Earned four varsity letters at Cleveland High School under coach Stephanie Wheeler-Smith…ESPN ranked her in the top 100 guards in the country…The Eagles were Metro League champions throughout her high school career, while they placed third in the 3A State Championship in 2012, were Sea-King District champs in 2013, and were back-to-back 3A State Champions in 2013 and 2014...In leading her team to consecutive state titles, Roper was named the MVP of the 3A All-Tournament Team both years, averaging 16.1 points per game…Over the course of that season, the lefty shooter averaged 16.3 points and was named the top-ranked player in Washington by MaxPreps…During her junior season, she recorded 15.6 points, five rebounds, and four assists per game…That same year, she was named First Team by the Seattle Times, Star Times, and the Tacoma News Tribune. She was also First Team All-Metro League and was the league MVP…Some of her standout performances that year included her dropping 23 points on Wilson High (1/22/13) and netting 27 points against Kelso High (2/19/13)…As a sophomore, Roper was named First Team All-Metro League after putting up averages of 13.2 points, five rebounds, and three assists per game…That year, she was also named the Seattle Times Star of the Week after scoring 31 points against Potter’s House (12/22/11) in Jacksonville, Fla…As a freshman, Roper averaged 14.5 points, four rebounds, and four assists per contest and was named to the All-Metro League Second Team as the only freshman to earn the accolade…A terrific student, Roper earned the Raising Eagle Award as a freshman and sophomore at Cleveland and also made the honor roll. 

Makala Iman Roper was born July 18, 1996 in Seattle, Wash. to parents Rikkita and Richard…She has an older brother named Malik…She roots for the Oklahoma City Thunder, while her favorite professional athlete is Kevin Durant…Her most memorable sports achievement is winning back-to-back state championships (2013-14)…Her favorite movies are Love+Basketball and First Sunday…She enjoys watching Catfish…Her favorite novel is To Kill a Mockingbird…She enjoys listening to Dom Kennedy and Drake…In her free time, she like to listen to music and play chess…Roper also lettered in cross-country in high school…Was also recruited by Seattle and Weber State…She has not chosen a major yet, but plans on pursuing a career in athletic training.
