SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Playing in her last regular-season game at the Thunderdome, Jenna Green sure made it a point to put up another terrific performance.
Green, a sixth-year senior, scored 20 points and pulled down six rebounds in UC Santa Barbara's 56-48 victory over Cal State Northridge on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Gauchos improve to 18-9 overall and 13-1 in the Big West. CSUN falls to 6-20, 3-10.
Green moved into ninth place on UCSB's career scoring list during the game and when she exited the Thunderdome floor for the final time, she received a healthy standing ovation from the crowd. Green went 6 of 12 from the floor and was 8-for-9 from the free throw line while also blocking three shots.
"This group of seniors I love them, I appreciate them," head coach Lindsay Gottlieb said. "They deserve to be appreciated here in their last game."
Pedersen nearly achieved a triple-double in her Thunderdome swan song with eight points, 11 rebounds and seven assists. Gibbons had five points, five rebounds and four assists. Suderman had two points, four boards and three blocks. Warren added two points and three rebounds.
Cal State Northridge kept the game close throughout. The Matadors cut the lead to five points, 50-45, on Whitney Ligon's three-pointer with 2:44 remaining and then made it 52-48 on Analee Viena-Lota's trey with 22 seconds left.
However, Green knocked down a pair of free throws and Margaret Johnson did as well to finish off the game and keep UCSB in first place in the Big West.
