SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara is offering free basketball tickets for any and all emergency responders that took part in protecting and defending our community during the recent Tea and Gap fires in the Santa Barbara area. The offer to come check out a couple of Gaucho basketball games goes out to firefighters, police, EMTs, Red Cross workers, ambulance drivers, and any other professionals that played a part in taking care of our residents and property.
Emergency personnel can obtain two free tickets to two different games at the Thunderdome - men's basketball vs. Loyola Marymount on Saturday, Dec. 13 and women's basketball vs. Harvard on Wednesday, Dec. 17. Both games tip-off at 7 p.m. All emergency personnel will be recognized for their efforts during both games.
"We just want to show a small token of our appreciation to the fire, police, and other emergency services who help make this place so special to live," said UCSB Athletics Director Mark Massari. "Our responsibility is to share Gaucho athletics and this great university with our community. We're thankful we can do that on December 13th and 17th in the Thunderdome."
As a reminder, UCSB has also set aside a total of 500 men's and women's basketball tickets that are available free of charge to any victims of the Tea Fire. These tickets are good for all remaining home games this season and individuals may request up to four.
Anyone interested in reserving tickets in advance or needing more information is asked to contact the UCSB Athletics Ticket Office at (805) 893-UCSB. Tickets may also be obtained by showing your emergency personnel identification at the Thunderdome on Saturday, Dec. 13 and Wednesday, Dec. 17 or by visiting the Athletics Ticket Office in the Intercollegiate Athletics Building on campus between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
