Katy Roby was named Big West Tournament Most Valuable Player...Scored the Gauchos only goal in the Big West Championship match at Cal Poly...Roby's goal against the Mustangs in the 69th minute tied the score and enabled UCSB to advance to the NCAA Tournament after a penalty kick shootout victory...Played in 18 games during the season, with six starts...Scored four goals and one assist for nine points, tied for third on the tea...Tallied two of her goals in 4-1 win at UC Davis...Roby had the game-winning goal in a 3-2 victory at Cal State Northridge.
Roby played in 14 games as a freshman...Her lone start happened to be her best game of the season against Sacramento State where she scored the game winning goal to give the Gauchos the 2-0 victory...The midfielder was credited with a game-saver in the 64th minute of play in shootout over Cal Poly...Had five shots on goal this season, netting two of them.
Katy Roby comes to UCSB from Poway High School...Played for Jen Lalor...Selected First Team All-Palomar League following her junior and senior seasons...A First Team All-CIF choice following her junior season...In fact, after her junior campaign, Roby was named the Offensive MVP of the Palomar League...Also chosen second team all-league as a freshman and sophomore...Named Best Newcomer as a freshman...Chosen as her team's Offensive MVP and Hardest Worker as a sophomore...Helped Poway to the CIF Playoffs in each of her final two years...At the club level, Roby played for the San Diego Surf...The Surf was State Cup champions in 2001, 2003, and 2005, Regional champs in 2002 and 2003, and Thanksgiving Surf Cup champs in 2007.
Born April 28, 1990 in San Diego, Calif....The daughter of Molly and Brian Roby...Was a member of the San Diego Union-Tribune's All-Academic Team...Hopes to major in business economics...Roby aspires to a career in either art or business.
