IRVINE, Calif. - No. 24 UC Irvine scored a goal in the 20th-minute and made it stand up, handing UC Santa Barbara its third straight loss, 1-0 at Anteater Stadium on Friday night.  It was also the Gauchos' third straight loss by a goal.

Dana Sanderlin scored at the 19:14 mark when she followed the rebound of a shot by Lexi Kopf and put it into the far post.  The play started when Cami Privett crossed the ball into Kopf in the middle of the penalty box.

The Gauchos (5-8-2 overall, 0-3 in the Big West) and Anteaters (8-3-2 overall, 1-1-1 in the Big West) were scoreless the rest of the way.

With the exception of Sanderlin's goal, her first of the season, the match was very defensive.  Irvine finished with just 10 shots, five on goal, while UCSB had six shots, two on goal.  Sophomore goalkeeper Makenna Henry was once again solid for the Gauchos as she came up with four saves.

Offensively, Katy Roby paced Santa Barbara with a pair of shots.  Erin Ortega and Allie Ariniello each had a shot on goal.  UCI All-American CoCo Goodson had three shots, two on goal.

UCSB remains on the road in Big West play, traveling to Cal State Northridge for a 5:00 p.m. match on Sunday evening.

The Gauchos return home for a league match against UC Riverside on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 5:00 p.m.  Tickets are available from the Ticket Office in the Intercollegiate Athletics Building on campus, by calling 805-893-UCSB or online by clicking here.

The ICA Ticket Office once again has Saturday hours.  The office will be open from 10am-1pm and there are two convenient 20-minute parking spots available between the ICA Building and Robertson Gym.
