DAVIS, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara battled UC Davis to a scoreless tie through the first half and beyond on Sunday, but in the end, the Aggies were too much as they scored two goals in the final eight minutes to post a 2-0 victory over the visiting Gauchos.
UCSB (6-11-2 overall, 1-6-0 in the Big West) allowed UC Davis (11-4-1 overall, 4-1-1 in the Big West) to score a pair of goals late to secure the victory.
With the match scoreless, Ashley Edwards headed in a cross from Kiele Argente at the 82:30 mark, giving Davis a 1-0 lead. The Aggies added an insurance goal in the 89th minute when Rachel Kahn took a feed from Argente and blasted a shot from six-yards out that deflected off of a defender and into the goal.
UCSB had its problems offensively. While the Gauchos attempted 12 shots, just four were on frame and none eluded UCD's Maria Magana.
UCSB returns home for its final game of the season on Friday, Oct. 28. The Gauchos will host Cal Poly in a 7:00 p.m. contest. The game will mark the final appearance in a UCSB uniform for seniors Alexa Stringer, Kathleen Matthew, Brooke Salyer, Nicole Romanowski, Alyssa Benjamin and Alyssa Oldham.
