Gauchos Debut With 6-2 Exhibition Victory at Westmont College

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – UC Santa Barbara exploded for four second half goals and cruised to an easy 6-2 win at Westmont College on Saturday night. 

The Gauchos took a 2-0 lead in the first half on goals by Indiana Mead and Dyanne Anderson.  Freshman Angelisa Cortez assisted on Mead's goal while Mead got the assist on Anderson's score.

UCSB took a 2-1 lead into the second half and then scored four in a row to put the match away.

Redshirt junior Lauren Kennedy got things started in the second 45, scoring off of an assist from Allie Ariniello.  Freshman Sara Feder then took a feed from Catherine McFarland and put the Gauchos up 4-1.  Ariniello scored the final two goals, each on an assist from Ohio State transfer Madison Beckley.

The Warriors their final goal in the waning minutes for the 6-2 final score.

UCSB will open the regular season in the Midwest this weekend.  On Friday evening, they will play at the University of Kansas in a match set to start at 3:00 p.m. (PDT) and on Sunday, they will play at the University of Missouri in a match set to kick-off at 11:00 a.m. (PST).
