SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara goalkeeper Makenna Henry was named Big West Defensive Player of the Week after blanking Indiana in a scoreless tie on Friday night, the league announced today.
Henry, a junior from Fountain Valley, Calif., faced 12 Hoosier shots, including eight on goal, and turned them all away, several in spectacular fashion. It was the third time this season that she had at least eight saves in a game.
On the year, Henry has now allowed five goals in nearly 387 minutes. She has 28 saves overall, a save percentage of .848 and a solid goals against average of 1.16.
Henry and the Gauchos return to action on Friday night when they host Oregon State in a match scheduled for 5:30 p.m. The UCSB-OSU women's contest will be followed by the home opener for the Gaucho men who will host Valparaiso.
