The Gaucho Record
UCSB will enter its Friday game against Cal State Fullerton with an overall record of 4-10-2 and a Big West record of 1-4-1. The Gauchos coming off a weekend when they posted a win over Hawai'i and a loss to Cal State Northridge. The Gauchos have a record of 1-5 in road games.  The Oct. 12 win over Hawai'i ended a two-game losing streak and a six-game winless streak.

Big West Tournament Could Be Tough
In terms of the math, UCSB is still in contention for a Big West Tournament berth.  The Gauchos are currently 1-4-1 in league play for a total of four points.  If they win their final three games, they would finish with 13 points.  Currently Santa Barbara sits in seventh-place.  Cal Poly (16 points), UC Irvine (13 points), Long Beach State (12 points) and Cal State Fullerton (12 points) are currently in the tournament.  Cal State Northridge (10 points) and UC Davis (7 points) are also ahead of UCSB.  Obviously a lot of things would have to happen for the Gauchos to advance, but winning all three would be a must.

Underclass Standouts
Freshman midfielder Sara Feder continues to lead the team with four goals and nine total points. Fellow-freshman Angelisa Cortez and sophomore Madison Beckley are tied for second with two goals and one assist for five points.  Another sophomore, Miranda Cornejo, has a pair of goals.  In all, 12 of UCSB's 15 goals this season have been scored by either freshmen or sophomores.

Ortega Times Her Goal
Prior to UCSB's game against Hawai'i on Friday, Oct. 12, Gaucho midfielder Erin Ortega was one of three seniors honored on Senior Night.  The timing of the celebration was fortuitous because a little over an hour later, Ortega scored what turned out to be the only goal in a 1-0 win.  For the Simi Valley native, a two-time All-Big West selection, it was her first goal of the season and it was timed perfectly.

Indiana's State Of Mind
Sophomore, Indiana Mead has the highest number of shot attempts for the Gauchos. Playing in and starting all 16 games, Mead has 17 shots on goal and 36 toal shots. While her shots have resulted in just one goal and a pair of assists, Mead has come into her own this season as the team's playmaking center midfielder.

There Is A Bright Side
It doesn't sound like much, but after being shutout in four of their first five matches this season and totaling one goal over that span, the Gauchos have been blanked just twice in their last 11 outings, scoring 14 of their 15 goals over that span.

Blue-Green Rivalry Completes Season
UCSB will complete its regular season on Sunday, Oct. 28 when they travel to Cal Poly for a 2:00 p.m. match.  The Gaucho-Mustang match-up is part of the Blue-Green Rivalry between the schools and the winner will earn a point towards the 2012-13 title.  The read about the series, see the schedule of all of this year's match-ups and to catch-up on the updated score, log-on to the Rivalry's official website, BlueGreenRivalry.com.
