Ritter, Beckley Included on CollegeSportsMadness.com Preseason All-Big West Teams

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Junior goalkeeper Beth Ritter and senior midfielder Madison Beckley were selected to the the 2014 Big West Preseason All-Conference Team by CollegeSportsMadness.com, it was announced. 

Ritter was named to the first team while Beckley was named to the second team.

Ritter claimed the starting spot in goal when Makenna Henry suffered a season-ending injury in the fourth match of the 2013 season and had an outstanding season. She played in 16 matches, starting 15, and finished with a 0.77 goals against average and 57 saves. Ritter had an outstanding .826 save percentage and recorded eight shutouts. At one point, she posted shutouts in five consecutive matches, the longest streak by a Gaucho goalkeeper in two decades.

Beckley played in 18 of UCSB's 19 matches in 2013, starting six. She tied for the team-lead in goals (5) and points (13) and she was tied for second in assists (3). Beckley will be playing her third season in Santa Barbara after transferring from Ohio State.

The Gauchos will play their annual exhibition game against Westmont College on Saturday, Aug. 16 at Meredith Field at Harder Stadium.
