Jacqui Simon once again earned All-Big West First Team Honors for the second consecutive year...Simon played in all 22 games and started in 19 of them...Ranked second on the team with 13 points...Had four goals and had five assists for 13 points, second on the team...Scored her final goal of the season in UCSB's 2-1 victory at Cal State Northridge in the first round of the Big West Tournament...Had a goal and an assist in a 2-0 win at William and Mary...Simon assisted on UCSB's only goal in the Big West title game at Cal Poly, a match won by the Gauchos on penalty kicks...Had three of her goals and three of her assists in road games...Started 19 of 22 matches and played in all 22.
Simon, who played in all 22 games this season, making 16 starts, joined three other Gauchos in earning All-Big West First Team Honors... She holds the highest ranking in two Gaucho offensive categories with four game winning goals and eight assists...Simon's 20 points and 50 shots also rank her second on the team...Her first goals of the season came in a duo after shutting down Pepperdine, 3-2, and the only other Gaucho goal of that game was a product of an assist from Simon...Simon had another pair of goals in a 2-1 victory over Riverside...In a stretch from Oct. 10th to Oct. 24th, which included three wins and a tie, Simon passed off for an assist in four straight games.
Simon played in 20 matches as a transfer, making 11 starts...Netted two goals on the year, assisting on a third...The first goal of her career came in a 1-1 double overtime tie against UNLV...Also scored a goal in UCSB's 4-0 Big West victory over UC Riverside...Attempted 26 shots, eight of which were on goal...Was tied for fourth on the team with five points.
Simon prepped at Redondo Union High School where she was a four-year letterwinner...Played for Shelly Marsden...First Team All-CIF choice as a junior...A four-time First Team All-Bay League and three-time First Team All-Area selection...Leading scorer on her high school team her sophomore through senior seasons...In her four years, she totaled 47 goals and 45 assists...Named team MVP as a senior...Helped Redondo Union to league championships in 2003 and 2004...Selected Redondo Union's Female Athlete of the Year in 2005-06...Five-year member of the ODP Cal South State Team...Played one year with the ODP Region-IV Team...Played club soccer for Southern California Blues...Helped the Blues to three league titles and to the California State Cup finals in 2006.
