NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Katy Roby's goal in the 83rd minute broke a 2-2 tie and proved to be the game winner as the UC Santa Barbara women's soccer team ended a three-game losing streak with a 3-2 win at Cal State Northridge Sunday afternoon.

The Gauchos (4-7-1, 1-1-0 in the Big West) wasted little time getting on the board. Jacqui Simon fed Kailyn Kugler for the first goal of the match just 34 seconds in to give UCSB a 1-0 lead.

Santa Barbara would double its lead before halftime, as Erica Seidman collected her own rebound off the post to beat CSUN goalkeeper Haley Hawes in the 38th minute. Kylie McDonald had an assist on the play and it was Seidman's first career score.

The Matadors (5-7-0, 1-1-0 in the Big West) rallied from the 2-0 deficit to tie it in the 78th minute on a goal by Farryn Townley.

An own goal by UCSB's Kathleen Matthew in the 75th minute gave CSUN some momentum and Townley collected her team-leading sixth goal of the season on a one-time feed from Brielle Slepicoff in the 78th to tie the contest. It was Slepicoff's first assist of the season.

The goal by Townley set the stage for Roby's late-game heroics.

Tammy Lenham made the start in goal for the Gauchos and had a pair of saves to earn the victory. Hawes had four saves for the Matadors. UCSB out-shot CSUN by a 15-9 count and had four corner kicks to the opposition's two.

The Gauchos return to action, and home, to host a pair of contests next weekend. On Friday, Oct. 9, they will play Cal State Fullerton at 7:00 p.m., and on Sunday, Oct. 11, they host UC Riverside in a 5:00 p.m. match. Both matches will take place at Meredith Field at Harder Stadium.
