The UCSB softball coaching staff has announced its 2012 summer camp dates. The program will be running multiple camps over the next three months, including the Advanced Overnight Summer Showcase and the Advanced Summer Showcases.

MeShalon Moore, who will join the Gaucho softball team this fall, was named the ESPNHS Cal-Hi Sports State Athlete of the Week on June 1 following a phenomenal stretch of games in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Division I playoffs.

Wisdom and Galicinao Earn Major Big West Honors, Seven Players Garner Distinction
Freshman pitcher Shelby Wisdom garnered Big West Freshman Field Player of the Year honors and Brie Galicinao was named the 2012 Coach of the Year it was announced Wednesday by the league office. A total of seven Gauchos garnered All-Big West distinction, marking the most since the 2008 season.

UC Santa Barbara, which is still in the hunt for its first Big West Conference title, will wrap-up the regular season this weekend at Cal State Northridge. The Gauchos and Matadors will play in a 1:30 pm doubleheader on Friday and conclude the series with a noon game on Saturday.

Freshman infielder Jenessa Jeppesen was named the Big West Conference’s Player of the Week after a standout performance at the plate this past weekend. The El Dorado Hills, Calif. native helped lead the Gauchos to a series sweep of visiting Cal Poly.

Gauchos Go the Distance, Sweep Pair Against Cal Poly
Trailing 4-3 with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, it looked as though UC Santa Barbra was going to have to settle for a split during Saturday afternoon’s doubleheader against Cal Poly, but junior Keilani Jennings’ solo home run tied the game and Jenessa Jeppesen’s fifth hit of the day drove in the winning run in the bottom of the eighth as the Gauchos captured the sweep.

Kathryn Pilpil's walk-off, two-out double in the bottom of the eighth inning scored Brooke Putich from second base to give UC Santa Barbara a 3-2 win in the first game of its Big West Conference doubleheader with the University of Pacific on Saturday. The Tigers came back to win the second game, 6-2, and remain one game ahead of the Gauchos in the league standings.

UC Santa Barbara (14-22, 1-0) won its Big West Conference opener against Long Beach State (12-19, 0-1), 5-4, on Saturday afternoon at Campus Diamond. The Gauchos were trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning during game two when a rainstorm came charging through Santa Barbara. The game will resume at 11 a.m. on Sunday, prior to the final contest of the three-game series.
