In her rookie season, offensively she started 50 games for the Gauchos…Posted a .271 overall batting average with 35 hits, two doubles and five home runs…Batted in 22 and scored 19 runs…Was fourth on the team in slugging percentage (.403) and third in on-base percentage (.345)…In a standout performance against Pacific (Apr. 22), she batted in a career-best four runs, going 2-for-3 on the day…Scored a career-best two runs three times...Tallied a hit in 24 of her 50 offensive starts with nine multiple hit games…Of the 11 games in which she accumulated RBI, six were multiple-RBI showings…In league games, she hit a blistering .417 with nine runs, 15 RBI and a .646 slugging percentage…Had a nine-game hitting streak (tallying 10 total hits) beginning against UC Davis (Apr. 28) and running through the Gauchos' final game at Cal State Northridge (May 12)...In the circle, she started a league-best 37 games for the Gauchos…Compiled a 24-14 overall record with a 2.31 ERA…Tossed five shutouts, including her first career no-hitter in a 2-0 victory over Cal State Northridge (May 11)…Struck out a career-high 12 in the conference-opening win against Long Beach State (Mar. 31)…She broke the UCSB single-season wins record with her 19th victory of the season against UC Davis (Apr. 29)…Went on to accumulate five more victories to eventually shatter the previous record…Compiled four UCSB records: set a UCSB record for single-season wins (24), single-season strikeouts (247), ranked second in single season appearances (50) and innings pitched (266.2), and tied for seventh in complete games (28)…Garnered All-Big West First Team and Big West Freshman Field Player of the Year accolades…Was a two-time Big West Pitcher of the Week and a College Sports Madness Softball Big West Player of the Week honoree…Named Big West Freshman of the Year by College Sports Madness.

Shelby Nicole Wisdom was born on May 3, 1993 in Sacramento, Calif.…Parents are Tommy and Joylynn…Has three siblings: Melissa, Janelle and Thomas…Is majoring in business economics with a minor in sports management at UCSB…Aspires to pursue a career in accounting, banking, or physical therapy…If she didn’t play softball, volleyball would be her sport of choice…Cheers for Jennie Finch and Miles Austin…Favorite teams are the Dallas Cowboys and Phoenix Suns…Her most memorable sports moments are winning the 2008 ASA National Championship and the 2009-10 Sac Joaquin Section title…Favorite movies are “The Notebook” and “Love and Basketball”…Enjoys watching “That 70’s Show”…Favorite aspects of UCSB are the sports and the beach…As a matter of superstition, she wont cross bats.
