The UC Santa Barbara Softball Staff will be hosting One-Day Advanced Showcases this upcoming winter. All camps are held on campus at Campus Diamond and instructed by Head Coach Brie Galicinao and Assistant Christine Ramos.
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara softball program have two young players on the rise and Fox Sports West took notice. As freshman, both Pitcher Alex Pingree and outfielder Arianna Palomares had an immediate impact on the Gauchos’ lineup this season.
In the final game of the season the Gauchos were unable to complete the sweep as UC Riverside's bats came alive late to trump UCSB 9-3. They finish the year at 31-24 and 12-12 in conference play while UC Riverside's first road victory of the year marks their final record at 19-35 and 3-20 in conference.
Last weekend, the UCSB softball team wrapped up their 2013 road schedule with a visit to the University of Hawai’i. In the first game, the Gauchos played the Rainbow Wahine to nine innings before Sami Stark hit the game winning home run to give UCSB the 4-1 victory. Hawai’i won the series by taking both games of the doubleheader the following day.
HONOLULU, Hawai’i – Keilani Jennings became UC Santa Barbara’s all-time home runs leader Saturday by knocking two homers in game one of the doubleheader at Hawai’i. The Gauchos dropped the first game 11-9 despite Jennings capturing history, and fell 8-0 in part two of the doubleheader.
Last weekend, the UCSB softball team won their home series versus Cal State Northridge. The Gauchos mercy-ruled the Matadors 8-0 as Shelby Wisdom led the way with a two-hit shutout and a 1-3 performance at the plate that included a three RBI double. In the Sunday rubber match, UCSB clinched the series win thanks to Lauren Boser’s solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning that gave her team the 6-5 edge.
After splitting the doubleheader yesterday, UC Santa Barbara was able to edge out a 6-5 victory to take the series from Cal State Northridge on Sunday afternoon at Campus Diamond. UCSB improves to 28-21 and evens up there conference record at 9-9, while CSUN falls to 21-29 and 7-11 in conference.
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – UC Santa Barbara and Cal State Northridge both took a game in Saturday’s doubleheader at Campus Diamond. The Gauchos lit up the scoreboard in the first game and downed the Matadors 8-0 in five innings, but CSUN struck back in game two with a close 3-0 victory.
Jessica Soria went 3-for-4 and Shelby Wisdom batted in three runs in UCSB’s losing effort on Wednesday at UCLA in a non-conference matchup. The Gauchos’ record stands at 26-20 after the 8-3 loss to No.16 UCLA, who improved to 31-15 with the win.
Last week, the UCSB softball team could not complete a sweep over Cal Poly, and dropped two games in their weekend trip at Long Beach State. Despite the loss to the Mustangs, UCSB won the season series by taking both games in their douleheader on Apr. 10. The Gauchos’ victory over the 49ers on Sunday snapped a seven-game lossing streak at the 49er Softball Complex.
UC Santa Barbara ended a three-game skid and avoided a series sweep with a 2-1 victory against Long Beach State (30-19, 12-6) on Sunday afternoon. The Gauchos improve their record to 26-19 overall and 7-8 in conference.
Last week, the UCSB softball team swept their double header at San Luis Obispo and took two of three from UC Davis at Campus Diamond. The victories clinched UCSB its first two Big West series victories this season.

Every day, student-athletes are challenged to balance their demanding academic course load with commitments to their team. SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – After recording three consecutive complete game shutouts, freshman Alex Pingree was named the Big West Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon. She started three of the Gauchos’ five games this past week, earning a pair of wins over UC Davis and another at Cal Poly.
Shelby Wisdom homered in the bottom of the 4th inning and Alex Pingree pitched a shutout to lead UC Santa Barbara over UC Davis, 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. UCSB takes two out of three in the series and improve their record to 25-16 while UC Davis falls to 17-21.
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – UC Santa Barbara split the doubleheader with UC Davis on Saturday at Campus Diamond, dropping the first game off a mercy rule 8-0 finish and shutting out the Aggies 1-0 to take the second.
Alex Pingree outlasted Cal Poly's Jordan Yates in the pitcher's duel propelling UC Santa Barbara to a 1-0 victory over Cal Poly on Wednesday night at Bob Janssen Field. The victory secured the sweep of the double header and improved the Gauchos record to 23-15 while Cal Poly drops to 16-24.
Last week, the UCSB softball team dropped both their games at the University of Arizona of mercy rule decisions. Aside from the GauchosÃ¢â¬â¢ Apr. 24th matchup at UCLA, UCSBÃ¢â¬â¢s will only be playing Big West teams for the rest of the regular season.
On the second consecutive day UC Santa Barbara was unable to get a runner home and they were shutout 9-0 against Arizona on Sunday afternoon. Arizona used a seven-run third inning to bury the Gauchos and force a mercy rule finish in the fifth inning.
After opening going 1-4 in last weekÃ¢â¬â¢s action, including a loss to St. MaryÃ¢â¬â¢s and a 1-3 series loss at Pacific, the UCSB softball team will conlcude their six-game road trip this weekend with a visit to the University of Arizona. UCSBÃ¢â¬â¢s two nonconference matchups with the Wildcats will bring the two programs together for the first time since the 1997 season.
Stockton, Calif. – The conference woes continue for UCSB as they dropped both games in their doubleheader against the University of the Pacific on Friday. With a 6-5 loss in the first game and a 3-2 defeat in the second, the Gauchos now fall to 20-13 on the season and are just 1-4 in Big West play. The losses also extend the team’s losing streak to four games.
After opening their Big West schedule with a 1-2 series lost to Cal State Fullerton, the UCSB softball team will hit the road this weekend to visit St. Mary’s and Pacific. UCSB’s matchup will be a nonconference stop on Wednesday during their road swing. They will be back in Big West action this weekend in a three-game series with the Tigers.
