• Gauchos Return Home
After finishing 1-3 in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, Calif., UCSB will return home to host the Gaucho Classic II. This weekend's three-day tournament features seven games to be played among UCSB, Seattle, and South Dakota State.

• For The Record
UCSB enters this weekend with a 9-5 record, and on a two-game losing streak.

• Batter Up!
Entering the third week of the young season, UCSB ranks second in the Big West in team batting average (.285) and hits (106). Pacific is at the top of the conference in both categories with a .304 batting average and 112 hits.

• Sensational Soria
Senior Jessica Soria leads the conference with 18 hits. Freshman Arianna Palomares and senior Keilani Jennings follow her at second with 17 hits each. Soria has proven that once she is on base, she is a force to be reckoned with as she leads the Big West in stolen bases with seven off eight attempts. Soria is also tied for the conference's top spot in runs scored with 12.

• Hit Parade
While UCSB is second in the conference as a team, the Gauchos have three players rank among the top-four hitters in the Big West: Keilani Jennings, Arianna Palomares, and Jessica Soria. Jennings leads the team with a .405 batting average, which is also good for second in the Big West. Palmomares and Soria follow her in the Big West's top-four hitting list with .370 and .367 averages respectively.

Big Swinging Senior
In addition to being among the top players in the Big West in batting average and hits, Keilani Jennings is also tied for the most rbi's in the conference with 15. She has garnered a Big West leading 33 total bases. Jennings is continuing to be the Gauchos' most powerful hitter as she has clubbed the second-most home runs in the conference with four and also leads the Big West with a  .786 slugging percentage.

• In the Circle
Shelby Wisdom has had a hot start to her sophomore campaign with a conference-best seven wins and is currently fourth in the Big West with 46 strikeouts through 51.2 innings of work. Though Alex Pingree is only a freshman, she already has made an impact in UCSB's pitching rotation. She is third in the conference in era (1.73) and opposing batting average (.211). The freshman is also first among Big West pitchers in runs allowed with 6 and is second in hits allowed with 19. As a collective pitching staff, the Gauchos have collected a total of nine wins, which is the second most among Big West teams.

Palomares at the Plate
Freshman Arianna Palomares is one of the top hitters for UCSB. While being among the conference in batting average and hits, she is tied for the lead in triples with two. And has also collected the second-most bases for UCSB with 24.

• The Galicinao File
Head coach Brie Galicinao, who is now in her sixth season at the helm of the UCSB softball program, has coached the Gauchos to a 128-140 cumulative record for a .478 winning percentage, the second best since the softball program went Division I in 1982. Galicinao has coached three players to All-Region honors, two players to Big West Field Player of the Year accolades, two Big West Freshmen Pitchers of the Year and 27 All-Big West Conference selections. Last season, she was named the Big West Coach of the Year for the second time; she was named Co-Coach of the Year in 2008, her first season at the helm of the program.
