• On the Road Again
After sweeping their competition at the Gaucho Classic II, the UCSB softball team will hit the road this weekend to visit Long Beach for the Mayfair Invitational. UCSB will face Weber State, South Alabama, UNLV, North Dakota State, and Charleston Southern during the three-day tournament.

• For The Record
UCSB enters this weekend with a 14-5 record, and on a five-game win streak.

• Batter Up!
Entering the fourth week of the season, UCSB ranks first in the Big West in both team batting average (.291) and hits (150). Long Beach State is second in both categories with a .290 batting average and 142 hits.

• Hit Parade
While UCSB is first in the conference as a team, the Gauchos have three players rank among the top-ten hitters in the Big West: Arianna Palomares, Jessica Soria, and Keilani Jennings. Long Beach State is the only other team to have that many players in the top-ten. Palomares leads the team with a .410 batting average, which also ranks first in the Big West. Soria places fourth on the list with .368 mark, while Jennings fins herself in eighth place with a .339 average.

Freshman Arianna Palomares has established herself as one of the top hitters for UCSB. She leads the Big West with batting .410 and is tied with teammate Jessica Soria for the conference's most hits with 25. Her two triples have her in a four-way tie for the most in the conference. Palomares also leads the Gauchos with 38 total bases.  

• Sensational Soria
As a senior, Jessica Soria has been one of the most consistent batters for UCSB. Typically the leadoff hitter for the Gauchos, Soria leads the Big West with 17 runs scored and 11 stolen bases. Soria is tied for the most hits in the conference (25) with her UCSB teammate Arianna Palomares.

In addition to being among the top players in the Big West in batting average and hits, Keilani Jennings is has the fourth most RBIs in the conference with 15. Her 35 total bases also rank fourth in the Big West. Jennings is continuing to be the Gauchos' most powerful hitter as she has clubbed the most home runs on the team with four and also leads UCSB with a .625 slugging percentage.

• In the Circle
Shelby Wisdom has been the Gauchos go-to pitcher this season and has racked up the second most wins in the Big West with 10. She is also sixth in conference with 66 strikeouts through 72.2 innings of work. Of those punch outs, 20 of them have caught the batter looking, which is the fourth most in the Big West. Though Alex Pingree is only a freshman, she already has made an impact in UCSB's pitching rotation. She is third in the conference in era (2.02) and eighth opposing batting average (.259). The freshman is also tied for first among Big West pitchers in earned runs allowed with 10 and is also tied for third in hits allowed with 35. As a collective pitching staff, the Gauchos have collected a total of 14 wins, which is the most of any Big West team.

• Offensive Wisdom

In addition to being the Gauchos' leader in the circle, Shelby Wisdom has also has been one of their standouts at the plate. She is currently tied for most RBIs in the conference with 17, and is third in the conference with 66 at bats. Wisdom has also garnered the second most doubles on the team with 5, which is just one shy of the team-high held by Arianna Palomares. 

• The Galicinao File
Head coach Brie Galicinao, who is now in her sixth season at the helm of the UCSB softball program, has coached the Gauchos to a 128-140 cumulative record for a .478 winning percentage, the second best since the softball program went Division I in 1982. Galicinao has coached three players to All-Region honors, two players to Big West Field Player of the Year accolades, two Big West Freshmen Pitchers of the Year and 27 All-Big West Conference selections. Last season, she was named the Big West Coach of the Year for the second time; she was named Co-Coach of the Year in 2008, her first season at the helm of the program.
