LONG BEACH, Calif. - Just as UCSB loaded the bases with two outs in the 7th inning on Friday morning, the rain poured down and forced an early ending. The game would revert back to the 6th inning giving the Gauchos a 3-0 loss to South Alabama on the second day of the Mayfair Invitational in Long Beach.

The loss snapped a six game winning streak for the Gauchos (15-6) who had been on a roll after sweeping the competition at last weekends Gaucho Classic II. For South Alabama they improve to 19-2 on the season and the win adds to their current six game win streak.

In the bottom of the 7th inning, after Kathryn Pilpil grounded out to start the inning, Keilani Jennings drew a walk. Pinch-hitter Jessica Tetzlaff then promptly singled to right field. After a ground out by Lauren Boser, Mackenzie Kane drew a walk to load the bases. With Sami Stark coming up to the plate the game was called due to rain. By rule, the stats revert back to the sixth inning.

As a result South Alabama's Hannah Campbell (8-2) was credited with a no-hitter as Tetzlaff's 7th inning single no longer counted. UCSB struggled all day off Campbell as they struck out seven time, including a rare four strikeouts in one inning. UCSB did, however, muster two base runners to prevent the perfect game for South Alabama. Kane drew a walk in the bottom of the 3rd and would reach second base on a sacrifice bunt by Stark. Second base was as far as the Gauchos would get in the game.

In the 6th inning, Jessica Soria reached base after a dropped third strike to keep some hope alive. Campbell countered with yet another strikeout making it her fourth in the inning.

Shelby Wisdom (8-5) picked up the loss after pitching 3 innings and giving up 4 hits, 2 earned runs and a walk. Andriana Collins came in in the 4th inning and held the Jaguars offense until the top of the 6th. Brittany Fowler led off for the Jaguars with a triple to right field and was cashed in by a Sac Fly from Meghan Collins.

Andriana Collins finished allowing three hits, one run, and a walk and striking out one in four innings pitched.

UCSB's game against UNLV will be postponed with the date to be determined. Scheduled for Saturday is a doubleheader starting with North Dakota St. at 11:30 a.m. and Charleston Southern at 4:30 p.m.
