• Finishing the Road Trip
Last weekend, the Gauchos finished Mayfair Invitational play in Long Beach with three wins and a pair of loses. Now, UCSB will finish their eight game road trip with a three game series against the Santa Clara Broncos.

• For The Record
Coming into their series against Santa Clara, UCSB has a 17-7 record, good for second in the Big West. The Gauchos are also riding a two-game win streak into Santa Clara, mercy ruling Charleston Southern 12-0 (Mar. 9th) and downing Weber State for the second time on the weekend 4-2 (Mar. 10th).

• Batter Up!
Entering the fifth week of the season, UCSB ranks first in the Big West in both team batting average (.284) and hits (182). Long Beach State is second in batting average with a .290 mark, while Pacific is second in hits with 180.

• Hit Parade
While UCSB is first in the conference as a team, the Gauchos have three players rank among the top-ten hitters in the Big West: Jessica Soria, Arianna Palomares, and Shelby Wisdom. Long Beach State is the only other team to have that many players in the top-ten, including the top hitter Shayna Kimbrough. Soria leads the team with a .393 batting average, which also ranks first in the Big West. Palomares is right behind her in third place with .378 mark, while Wisdom is a part of a three way tie for eight with a .333 average.

• Sensational Soria
As a senior, Jessica Soria has been one of the most consistent batters for UCSB. Typically the leadoff hitter for the Gauchos, Soria leads the Big West with 24 runs scored and is tied for conference lead with 33 hits. Soria paces the Big West in stolen bases with 16 off her 17 attempts.

 Palomares at the Plate
Freshman Arianna Palomares has established herself as one of the top hitters for UCSB. She is third in the Big West with batting .378 and is also in third in the conference for hits with 28. Palomares is tied with Shleby Wisdom for a team-high seven doubles, and leads the club with two triples. With 42 total bases, Palomares ranks sixth in the Big West. She leads the Gauchos in on base percentage at .442. 

 Big Swinging Senior
Senior Keilani Jennings has again proven herself as the Gauchos' most powerful hitter. She has the third most RBIs in the conference with 19. Her 38 total bases also rank seventh in the Big West. She has clubbed the most home runs on the team with four and is also second on UCSB with a .559 slugging percentage. Jennings has also picked up with the second most walks in the Big West with 15.

• In the Circle
Shelby Wisdom
 has led the Gauchos this season with a 2.31 era and has racked up the second most wins in the Big West with 11. She is also fourth in conference with 79 strikeouts. Of those punch outs, 21 of them have caught the batter looking, which is the fifth most in the Big West. Wisdom is also a work horse for the Gauchos in the circle as she pitched 84.2 innins (third most in conference) and has finished 11 games (tied for most in the conference). Though Alex Pingree is only a freshman, she already has made an impact in UCSB's pitching rotation. She is eighth in the conference in era (2.72). The freshman is also tied for second among Big West pitchers in earned runs allowed with 15 and is also tied for fifth in hits allowed with 40. As a collective pitching staff, the Gauchos have collected a total of 17 wins, which is the second most in the Big West.

• Offensive Wisdom

In addition to being the Gauchos' leader in the circle, Shelby Wisdom has also has been one of their standouts at the plate. She is currently leads the conference with 25 RBIs, and is fourth in the Big West with 27 hits. Wisdom has also garnered the most doubles on the team with seven. She also leads the team in total bases with 45, which is good for third among Big West players. 

• Background on the Broncos
Santa Clara plays in the Pacific Coast Softball Conference and currently stand with a 2-18 record. They are led by Stephanie Fisher with a .436 batting average. The next closest player to her in that category is Rochelle Rivera who has a .267 mark. Ciara Gonzales and Jessica Turner split most of the time in the circle for the Broncos. Through 13 appearances, Gonzales has a 1-5 record with a 6.94 era. Turner is 0-4 and allows an average of 6.51 earned runs.

• The Galicinao File
Head coach Brie Galicinao, who is now in her sixth season at the helm of the UCSB softball program, has coached the Gauchos to a 128-140 cumulative record for a .478 winning percentage, the second best since the softball program went Division I in 1982. Galicinao has coached three players to All-Region honors, two players to Big West Field Player of the Year accolades, two Big West Freshmen Pitchers of the Year and 27 All-Big West Conference selections. Last season, she was named the Big West Coach of the Year for the second time; she was named Co-Coach of the Year in 2008, her first season at the helm of the program.
