HONOLULU, Oahu – The UC Santa Barbara softball team closed out its three-game series at Hawaii on Saturday night with losses of 3-1 and 5-2.

The Gauchos are now 7-33 overall and 1-8 in Big West play. The Rainbow Wahine improve to 27-10 overall, 8-1 in conference.

Game One
A pair of home runs would see UH to victory in the first game on Saturday, starting with a Nicole Lopez homer to left center in the bottom of the first. Brittnee Rossi's two-run shot over the center field wall would put the home side up 3-0 through three innings.

The Rainbow Wahine would only tally two other hits the rest of the game. UCSB finished with six, led by two from Maci Fines. After recording her second hit of the day to open the sixth inning, Fines would put UCSB on the board. Devan Sperry's single to left field with the bases loaded brought Fines home to make it 3-1.

Santa Barbara would make things interesting late. Despite picking up outs on their first two batters, the Gauchos would load the bases in the top of the seventh. As a pinch hitter, Ally Nodohara kept UCSB alive with a single to right field. Fines and Tyler Goldstein would follow with singles of their own. Unfortunately for the Gauchos, Hawaii would end the game without giving up any more runs.

Game Two
Hawaii would once again open the scoring in the bottom of the first to open game two, this time putting up four runs in the opening inning. The Rainbow Wahine tallied four of their seven hits in the first.

Sophomore left fielder Sammy Fabian recorded two of UCSB's four hits. Rayna Cohen and Teah Thies had the Gauchos' other two hits.

UH added another run in the bottom of the sixth to make it 5-0. The Gauchos would get on the board with two runs in the top of the seventh.

Fabian opened the inning with a double down the left field line. She would score UCSB's first run off a single from Cohen. Cohen would later score the Gauchos' final run of the day.

Next Up
UCSB will remain on the road for its next three games, as the Gauchos get set to take on Long Beach State next Friday and Saturday, April 19-20.
