UCSB's Twinbill with Top-Ranked UCLA Rained Out

March 28, 2006

LOS ANGELES - For the second time in four days, UC Santa Barbara was unable to take the field due to inclement weather after Tuesday's doubleheader with No. 1 UCLA was cancelled. The two meetings between the Gauchos and Bruins will not be rescheduled.

Saturday's matchup with Loyola Marymount was halted in the third inning and then called after a rain delay that lasted over an hour. The Lions will return to Santa Barbara Wednesday, April 5 to complete the doubleheader.

UCSB has now seen six of its games cancelled this season because of rain.

Santa Barbara, who has not played a full game since March 16, returns to action this weekend when it opens Big West Conference play with three games at Cal State Fullerton. The Gauchos and Titans will play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 12:00 p.m. and a single game Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
