On June 25 the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials will begin in Omaha, Nebraska, and UCSB will make its presence felt. 16 Gauchos will compete in the trials, which end on July 1, as they try to bring a little Santa Barbara sunshine to London for the 2012 Olympics.
One day after teammate Sophia Yamauchi made her NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships debut, Andrea Ward tackled her first event. Ward competed in the 100 butterfly, while Yamauchi swam in the 100 breaststroke during Friday’s preliminaries.
Sophomores Andrea Ward and Sophia Yamauchi will be representing UC Santa Barbara at the 2012 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships, which are being held Thursday through Saturday at Auburn’s James E. Martin Aquatics Center.
