SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Sophomore swimmer Allie Knight has earned Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Athlete of the Week honors after a standout week in the pool for UCSB.
Knight won all five individual events she swam during a pair of dual meets at Pacific and UC Davis helping lead the Gauchos to consecutive wins.
Against the Tigers, she took first in the 200 butterfly (2:04.96) and the 400 individual medley (4:33.20). The next day in Davis, she won both the 100 (57.33) and 200 back (2:03.84), while also bettering her mark in the 400 IM (4:27.28) with another top finish.
She also swam the leadoff leg in the 200 medley relay at both meets. The Gauchos finished second on Friday in 1:44.85 and then bettered their time and finish on Saturday, taking first in 1:43.69.
Knight and her Gaucho teammates will compete in their final dual meet of the season this Saturday, Feb. 4 against Cal Poly at UCSB's Campus Pool. The meet is slated to begin at 9:30 am with the diving events.
