On the final day of the MPSF Championships at East Los Angeles College the Gauchos werenât able to make up any ground and finished fourth place overall. UC Davis was able to hang on and win first place with 673.5 points, BYU finished second with 635.5 and Hawaii came in third with 610.
After an impressive win in the 400 medley relay, the Gauchos couldn't find the top spot again on the third day of the MPSF Championships at East Los Angeles College. They remain in fourth place but are only 41 points behind the leader with a full day of competition remaining.
The UC Santa Barbara women's swim and dive team wrapped up a full day of events on the second day of the MPSF Championships held at East Los Angeles College. Sophia Yamauchi had the standout performance of the day with her victory in the 200 IM.
Coming off a tough loss to Cal Poly, the UC Santa Barbara women’s swim and dive team will look to regroup heading into tomorrow’s third annual MPSF Championships. Swimmers will compete at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park, Calif., and the meet will run from Feb. 20-23. The diving competition will be held in Colorado Springs, Colo. and goes from Feb. 21-23.
The UC Santa Barbara swimming and diving teams traveled up north to take on Cal Poly at Anderson Aquatic Center on Saturday afternoon as a part of the Blue-Green Rivalry. The Mustang women came up big on their senior day beating the Gauchos 172-128, while the UCSB men won a nail-biter 151.5-146.5.
For six seniors, it was their last meet at Campus Pool and their last chance to go out on a high note at home. UCSB accomplished just that on Saturday afternoon, as the Gaucho men defeated Pacific 152.5-109.5, while the women took down Loyola Marymount 176-85 and Pacific 161-101.
The UCSB swimming and diving teams took on UNLV in a closely contested battle on Saturday afternoon at Buchanan Natatorium. In a meet that came down to the final events, the Gaucho men fell 155-143, and the women lost 155-145.
The UC Santa Barbara swimming and diving teams were back in action on the road against Cal State Bakersfield Saturday afternoon at Hillman Aquatics Complex. In their first dual meet since Nov. 3, UCSB swept the competition with the men winning 184-115, while the women defeated CSUB 162-132.
Seven Gaucho swimmers traveled to Texas over the weekend to compete at the AT&T Winter National Championships. The event included elite swimmers from around the country, including many Olympic Champions, and was held at Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center at the University of Texas.
The UC Santa Barbara men’s and women’s swim teams head down south to Long Beach to compete in the three-day long Arena Invitational. The event is hosted by UC San Diego and will take place at Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool starting Thursday Nov. 15.
The UC Santa Barbara swimming and diving teams were at it again Saturday afternoon battling Cal Poly in the Blue-Green Rivalry at Campus Pool. For the second straight day, the Gauchos swept the competition in both dual meets with the men topping the Mustangs, 191-107 and the women winning 167-133.
The UCSB swimming and diving teams will have their first meet at home this season, when they take on UC San Diego this Friday. The divers will begin the day at 11:00 a.m. and the swimming will get underway at noon. On Saturday, only the swim teams will face Cal Poly as the divers head south for the USC Invitational. That action begins at 11:00 a.m. at Campus Pool.
The UCSB swimming and diving teams opened up the 2012-13 season with the women claiming two victories out of their three match-ups. They defeated Oregon State 195-98 and Utah 183-115, however lost to UCLA 185-110. The men’s team was defeated by Utah 161-138.
