Ward Sets School Record in 100 Fly on Day Three of MPSF Championships

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. – The UCSB women's swimming and diving team completed day three of the MPSF Championships sitting in third place, with the meet concluding tomorrow. Senior Andrea Ward swam a school record in the 100 yard butterfly (51.92) during the preliminaries, Friday morning.

In the finals of the 100 butterfly Ward took the event with a time of 52.27. Senior Allie Knight won the 400 yard individual medley with a time of 4:16.44 in the championship finals.

Junior Katie Records came in second place of the championship finals of the 100 yard breaststroke, swimming a time of 1:01.66. Fellow junior Carissa Metcalf came in third with a time of 102.40.

The Gauchos ended the meet on a high note taking the 400 yard medley relay in 3:38.68, by the team of Ward, Knight, Records, and senior captain Sophia Yamauchi.

In the consolation round of the 3 meter diving event sophomore Hannah Tomp scored a 241 while freshman Mariah Renteria scored 214.15, leading the Gauchos.

At the end of day three UC Davis is in first place in team rankings with a score 489. BYU is in second with 420.5 with the Gauchos only a half point behind in third with 420.
