SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara swim traveled up the coast to swim in the rain against their rival team Cal Poly. The women won with a 151-142 point lead while the men trailed behind with a 129.5-164.5 loss.
The Gauchos started the meet off strong with two first places in the 200 medley relay. The women's squad finished with a time of 1:44.61 and the men's squad won with a 1:31.36.
Haley Herberg had an outstanding race in the 200 freestyle, snatching first place with the time of 1:53.75.
Kian Brower (1:40.49) was just out-touched on the men's side, only 0.17 seconds behind first in the 200 freestyle.
Emily Ward matched teammate Herzberg, earning a first for UCSB in the 100 backstroke (56.03).
Madelyn Johnson took her turn giving a first place to the team in the 200 butterfly (2:05.09).
Ward came back for her second individual win of the day in the 50 freestyle, dipping underneath the 24 second threshold with an amazing 23.96.
Mason Tittle was barely out-touched in the 50 free, placing him in second with a time of 20.82.
Ward showed her depth with a win in the 100 freestyle (51.91), her third individual win of the day. While J. Nguyen came back for his second first place (45.37).
Cullen earned his second individual win of the day in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:03.27.
In one of the most exciting races of the day, Herzberg nearly tied with Cal Poly in the 500 freestyle, finishing with a 5:03.49 while first place was 5:03.47.
Quintana and Jacquelyn Harris came back with a first (55.66) and second (57.13) in the 100 butterfly.
Gaucho women earned their next and final win of the season in 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:27.84 while Gaucho men earned theirs with a 3:01.03.
