UCSB Defeated By UC Davis, 136.5 to 100.5

DAVIS, Calif. - UCSB was able to start of the meet with a big win in the 400 Medley Relay (Cruzat, Freeman, Yamamoto, and Dwidar) against UC Davis but that was not enough to keep the momentum going to win the dual meet Friday January 21, 2006 at Schaal Aquatics Center.
Freshman Erin Yamamoto and teammate Jen Schwalb took first and second in the 200 fly, 2:02.85 and 2:03.81, respectively. Following that event freshman Jenisse Demeulenaere won the 100 free with a time of 52.16. Nadia Dwidar took third, 52.38 and Josefa Carlin took fifth, 53:36 in that event. To complete the freshman trio Jessica Cruzat took first in the 200 back with a time of 2:04.78. Danielle Taylor placed third in the backstroke event with a time of 2:09.25.
Senior Jen Schwalb who took first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.55 also took second in the 500 free with a time of 5:05.09. Ashley Yamahata took third in the 500 free with a time of 5:10.14.
The Gauchos took second and third in the 200 breast, Freeman with a time of 2:21.71 and Dickinson with a time of 2:24.20.As the meet came to an end the Gauchos were able to steal a second place finish in the 400 free relay.
The Gauchos head back into the water to face University of the Pacific in their home pool Saturday, January 21, 2006.
