Four Individual Wins Against the University of Hawai'i Was Not Enough to Claim the Win, UCSB 109 Hawai'i 124

HONOLULU, Hawai'i - UCSB finished day one of the two day meet against the University of Hawai'i with four individual wins and one relay win at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex. The Gauchos are ready to face Hawai'i a second time and close the point gap.
UCSB senior Jen Schwalb won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:01.65 late in the meet after taking third in the mile event, 1650 yards, with a time of 18:10.78. She also took second in the 200 IM, 2:07.10 proving her versatility and strengths.
Nadia Dwidar won the 100 free with a time of 52.57, just one second off last season's best time, a very good showing for so early in the season. Dwidar also took third in the 200 free with a time of 1:52.42 and was on the winning 400 free relay team.
Kaitlin Freeman finished first in the 200 breaststroke, 2:21.19. Freshman Anne Marie May won the 50 free, 24.02. May took second in the 100 free behind her teammate Dwidar. May walked away in the 100 with a time of 52.90. Anne Marie May was also a part of the winning 400 free relay along with teammates Jamie Lathers, Liz Wagner and Nadia Dwidar. Their time was 3:28.92, three seconds ahead of Hawaii's relay team.
The Gauchos will meet the Rainbow Wahine again Saturday, October 28, 2006 at 11:00 am HST at the Dike Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
