SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara took the home pool advantage today at Campus Pool when they swept visiting UC San Diego. Freshman Erin Yamamoto was a double event winner along with junior Jen Schwalb . Yamamoto won the 200 yard fly (2:07.07) and the 100 free (53.19). Butterflyer Jen Schwalb won two events that she does not normally swim, the 200 free (1:54.55) and the 200 breast (2:19.59). Freshmen Ashley Yamahata won the 1000 free (10:35.57), Jenisse Demeulenaere won the 100 back (1:00.07) and Kaitlin Freeman won the 100 breast (1:06.11), making their presence known. Helping the team gain more points was senior Danielle Taylor winning the 200 back (2:07.72) and sophomore Courtney Jenkins winning the 50 free (24.78). Besides the win the Gauchos had good early season swims and are looking to improve on their times as the competition continues to grow through the season.
The Gauchos head on a short road trip to face Northridge on Friday November 18 at 11am and the University of Arizona on November 19 at 1pm in Arizona.
