SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Anne Marie May and Chris Good returned to the pool after a three-week hiatus and produced standout performances at their dual meet against USC to earn Big West Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week honors, for the week ending Jan. 7. The women's squad fell to the Women of Troy, 149-111, while the men dropped their first dual meet of the new year, 141-118.
In four events, including two relays, May posted a pair of first place times and two second place marks. The freshman from Carmel, Calif., won the 50 free with a mark of 23.94 and posted a time of 52.69 to finish second in the 100 free. She also contributed to the 400 free relay and 200 medley relay where the Gauchos finished first and second. May currently leads the league in the 200 free, while posting the second fastest mark in the conference in the 100 free.
Good swam the fastest time in the 400 IM, 100 back and 200 back to leave the McDonald's Swim Stadium with three first place victories. In the individual medley he posted a time of 4:02.41, while registering times of 52.08 and 1:50.98 in the 100 and 200 back. The Highlands Ranch, Colo., native currently holds the Big West's second fastest time in the 200 back and fourth fastest in the 100 back.
UC Santa Barbara returns to Campus Pool on January 13 when they host conference foe UC Davis at noon.
