SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Katy Freeman got graduation weekend off to a good start on Friday when she placed second in the 200-meter breaststroke at the Santa Clara International Invitational. Freeman, who just completed her senior year at UC Santa Barbara, swam amongst some of the world's best swimmers at the meet.

Freeman touched the wall in 2:27.32, finishing second to Leisel Jones of Australia, the 2008 Olympic gold medalist in the 100-meter breaststroke.

The UCSB grad and head coach Gregg Wilson will be heading to Belgrade, Serbia next month for the World University Games. Freeman will compete in the games - with the swim competition running July 5-11 - and Wilson is serving as an assistant coach to the women's team.
