UCSB Improves to 3-1 in Big West With 5-2 Win Over Northridge

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -  The UC Santa Barbara women's tennis team (5-10 overall, 3-1 in Big West Conference) posted a 5-2 win over Cal State Northridge on Sunday afternoon in a Big West Conference Match in Santa Barbara. The Gauchos won the doubles point and four of six single matches.

Having defeated UCSB during the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Miami, Fla., Northridge hoped to rekindle that performance on a trip up the California coast. Unfortunately, the Matadors were no match for the Gauchos.

Santa Barbara claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3.

The singles matches were a battle.  UCSB's Sofia Novak, April Scatliffe, Kiersten Meehan and Paulo Cos swept the No. 2 through No. 5 matches.

The Gauchos will return to aciton on Saturday, March 24, when they host Texas-El Paso at 1:00 p.m. on the Recreation Center Courts.
