IRVINE, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara junior Amanda Atanasson (Owings Mills, Md./Forest Trail Academy) had a banner three matches – winning three times in singles and twice in doubles – and securing the Big West Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week honor.
"Amanda is on an eight match winning streak and also is undefeated with Stefani (Stojic), her new doubles partner," said head coach Simon Thibodeau. "She deserves this honor. After battling an injury and fighting hard to get her matches rhythm, its good news for the team to have Amanda confident approaching the post-season."
Atanasson picked up UCSB's lone point in a 4-1 loss to Hawai'i, knocking off Nikola Dolakova, 7-6, 6-3, at No. 5. She recorded two singles win in one day at two different sites, toppling CSUN's Emma Roenholt by a 6-4, 6-2 score, and later dispatching Camila Tumosa of Loyola Marymount, 6-2, 6-4 as the Gauchos won both.
In doubles, she teamed with Stefani Stojic for two wins, including 6-1 over UH's Marina Hruba and Alzbeta Houbova.
