Dané Vorster, a member of the Northwestern University women's tennis coaching staff for the last two seasons, was named assistant coach for the UC Santa Barbara program in September of 2018.

"We are very excited about the hire of our new assistant Dané Vorster," head coach Simon Thibodeau said at the time of the hiring. "Dané helped with a tremendously successful Northwestern tennis program the last two years, including an NCAA Sweet 16 appearance last year. She has proven to be a good fundraiser and even organized the team's entire trip to Australia. We look forward to the fall quarter and Dané's opportunity to begin working with our team."

Prior to her two seasons at Northwestern, Vorster spent time as a tennis professional and Assistant Director of Future Stars Southampton in Southampton, N.Y. In addition to her duties as the tennis pro, she was the tournament and events director, assisted in promoting all programs and activities, and maintained relationships with the program's clients.

Vorster spent the first several years of her life in South Africa before moving to Brisbane, Australia. She began her collegiate tennis career at Texas A&M where she played in fall tournaments in 2011 prior to transferring to the University of Arkansas, Little Rock. After a brief stay at UALR, she was forced to transfer again when the school dropped the women's tennis program. Vorster completed her collegiate career playing three seasons at No. 1 singles for Portland State.

Vorster earned her BS in pre-physical therapy studies from Portland State in 2016. She was a three-time Academic All-Big Sky honoree and a three-time ITA Scholar Athlete from 2014-16. During her time in the Pacific Northwest, she was also a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). While at Northwestern, Vorster earned her MA in sports administration.
