No. 69 UCSB Dumps San Jose State for First Win of the Season, 5-2

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The UC Santa Barbara women's tennis team, ranked 69th in the nation, logged its first win of the year at San Jose State. The Gauchos topped the Spartans on Friday by a score of 5-2.

UCSB won the doubles point. In No. 1 doubles, Andrea Pintar and Charlotte Scatliffe defeated Amber Silverstone and Ashley Tavita by a score of 8-4. At No. 2, it was Chelsea Glynn and Amy Vyhnis posted an 8-5 win over Edna Hadzisabic and Silvana Dukic. He Spartans' duo of Courtney Koeningsfeld and Elke Harms topped Mio Fukushima and Leslie Damion at No. 3, 8-7.

The Gauchos won four of the singles matches. Glynn topped Koeningsfeld at No. 1, 6-2, 6-2. Pintar defeated Silverstone at No. 2, 6-2, 6-2, and Scatliffe routed Ashley Tavita at No. 3, 6-1, 6-1.

San Jose registered victories a the No. 4 and No. 5 singles spots. At No. 4, Dukic edged Damion, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3. At No. 5, Harms posted a lengthy 6-7, 6-2, (13-10) win over UCSB's Kristen Wilson. Finally, at No. 6, Fukushima swept the Spartans' Dana Popescu, 6-3, 6-2.

UCSB is now 1-2 on the year. The Gauchos to Santa Clara on Saturday, Feb. 4.
