SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -
The UC Santa Barbara women's tennis team continued its homestand this afternoon losing to conference foe Cal State Northride, 5-2. With the loss the Gauchos fall to 6-7 overall and 2-2 in Big West play.
The Gauchos opened doubles play the way you aspire to, winning the first match at No. 3. Senior Brittany Kausen and sophomore Tova Hausmen posted an 8-4 victory over Nina Jaworowski and Sandra Kukla to give UCSB the early advantage. The lead was short lived for the Gauchos as the Matadors scored victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Cal State Northridge evened the score when Victoria Brymer and Canna Furuta took down the Gauchos top pair of Marta Simic and Charlotte Scatliffe, 9-7. The Matadors clinched the doubles point with an 8-5 win at the No. 2 doubles slot.

Marta Simic avenged her doubles loss with a 6-1, 7-6 decision over Brymer. At No. 2 doubles, Jill Damion closed out the match by defeating Koichumanova 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.
