No. 33 SMU defeats UCSB, 6-1

Dallas, Texas - Kiersten Meehan's 6-1, 6-3 victory over Kris Roberts at No. 6 singles was the lone bright spot for the Gauchos in their 6-1, loss to No. 33 SMU Saturday.
The Gauchos have now dropped consecutive matches, including a loss to No. 11 Northwestern on Thursday.
SMU won all three doubles matches by comfortable margins. Marta Lesniak and Aleksandra Malyarchikova defeated Natalia Lozano and Jordan Dockendorf 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. Edyta Cieplucha and Heather Steinbauer also defeated Jill Damion and Kiersten Meehan 8-3 at court No. 2.
In singles, the Gauchos were defeated in straight sets in five of the six matches. Jordan Dockendorf played tough at No.4 singles, but was defeated 6-4, 6-4, by Heather Steinbauer.
The next match for the Gauchos is Sunday, March 27 against UTEP in Denton,Texas.
