Gauchos Sweep UTEP, 7-0

Denton, Texas - Bouncing back from three consecutive losses, the UC Santa Barbara women's tennis team defeated UTEP 7-0, Sunday, ending its Texas road trip on a high note.
The Gauchos improved their record to 10-6 on the season and now return home for matches against Saint Mary's and Portland before continuing Big West Conference play.
Santa Barbara returned to form in doubles sweeping UTEP to end a streak of six consecutive losses in individual doubles matches. The duo of Natalia Lozano/Jordan Dockendorf got back on track at court No. 1 defeating Caroline DeLuca/Martina Trierweiler 8-4. With Jill Damion sitting out the match Sofia Novak teamed with Kiersten Meehan to defeat Xamina Fuentes/Gabi Vazquez 6-4.
Rounding out doubles play, Paola Cos/ Erica Cano defeated Alexandra Glebova/Dariya Abdrakhmanova 8-4.
In singles, Novak overcame a disappointing second set to defeat Abdrakhmanova 6-3, 0-6, 6-1 at court No. 2 and Kiersten Meehan built on her momentum from the SMU match defeating Marie Leblond 6-2, 6-4. Erica Cano remained perfect in singles play this season defeating Xamina Fuentes 6-0, 6-1.
In their next match the Gauchos take on Saint Mary's Monday, March 28 at the Robertson Gymnasium Courts on campus beginning at noon.
