The UC Santa Barbara women's tennis team continued its struggles this afternoon against Loyola Marymount, dropping their fifth consecutive match 5-2. The loss drops the Gauchos to 7-12 overall, and 2-3 in conference.
The Gauchos jumped ahead early at the No. 2 slot, when Jill Damion partnered with Asagi Onaga to blow out Jasmin Heckel and Bliss Nixon 8-1. Loyola Marymount answered back with a victory at No. 3. The Lions won the doubles point, as Pavla Mesterova and Tamara Tanner outlasted Marta Simic and Charlotte Scatliffe at No. 1, 9-8.
LMU parlayed its doubles point into success on the singles court. Tina Razloznik was the first off the court, defeating Asagi Onaga at No. 3 6-0, 6-1. Tamara Tanner followed suit, with a straight set winner at the No. 2 position against Jill Damion 6-1, 6-4. Jasmin Heckel delivered the win for LMU when she defeated Charlotte Scatliffe 6-3, 6-3.
The Gauchos return home tomorrow to host UC Riverside. First serve at the Rob Gym Tennis Courts is set for 10:00 a.m. (PT).
