Santa Barbara, Calif - The Gauchos bounced back from two bitter losses, with a 6-1 thrashing of Loyola Marymount in a non-conference match Saturday, at the Robertson Gymnasium Courts.

Coming off the two close conference losses Santa Barbara was in need of a confidence boost heading into Sunday's match against UC Irvine. After sweeping doubles play and winning five of six singles matches over LMU the Gauchos appear ready to take on the Anteaters in their regular-season finale.

UCSB opened the day by wining the doubles point for the fourth consecutive match. Sofia Novak and Michelle Murphy improved to 3-0 on the season since being paired together at No. 2 doubles. Kiresten Meehan and Jill Damion are also 3-0 since moving from No. 2 doubles to No. 3. Jordan Dockendorf and Natalia Lozano picked up an 8-3 victory at court No. 1.

The Gauchos dominated the middle of the singles lineup winning in straight sets at courts No. 2 - No. 5. At court No. 6 Michelle Murphy was a three set winner in her first singles match since the season-opener against Santa Clara.

UCSB improved to 12-9 overall and a win against UCI on Sunday would cement them as either the No. 4 or No. 5 seed for the Big West Tournament.

Seniors Jill Damion and Michelle Murphy will be honored before their final home match tomorrow against UCI. Start time is 11 a.m.
