After having both of their matches rained out against San Jose State and Santa Clara, the Gauchos finally hit the courts again this past Monday easily handling Eastern Michigan, 6-1. With the victory UC Santa Barbara improved their overall record to 3-2 on the year.

It Takes Two to Tango
The Gauchos continue to steamroll the competition in doubles play this year, boasting an impressive 13-2 mark for the year. UC Santa Barbara has swept the doubles point in four out of five matches played this year, with the lone blemish coming against No. 37 UC Irvine earlier this season. The senior pair of Marta Simic and Charlotte Scatliffe has started the year red hot in doubles play and remain a perfect 5-0 at the No. 1 slot for the Gauchos.

Desert Foes- Northern Arizona
The Lumberjacks come into Fridays duel with the Gauchos having already completed fourteen matches. Northern Arizona started the year out blazing, winning seven of its first nine matches. Since then, the Lumberjacks have dropped four out of five games and are now 8-6 overall. These two teams have met four times with the Gauchos owning a 3-1 record all time over Northern Arizona.

University of Arizona
The No. 52 University of Arizona has been struggling mightily of late, losing their last five in a row. The last two were especially not pleasant as the Wildcats got blanked at home by USC and UCLA 6-1, 6-1 respectively. Arizona stormed out of the gates to begin the year, winning their first five matches on the schedule. The Wildcats and Gauchos have squared off thirteen times over the years with Arizona holding a 9-4 mark over UC Santa Barbara.

Arizona State University
The No. 18 Sun Devils may prove to be the toughest opponent the Gauchos will face this season. Arizona State is 7-1, and has victories over No. 27 Texas, No. 32 Florida International University, and No. 38 Long Beach State. The Sun Devils also upset No. 7 UCLA this past Friday as well. The only loss for Arizona State this year was against No. 12 USC. The Sun Devils hold a 4-1 overall record against the Gauchos.
