Gauchos Hit the Road to Face Rival Cal Poly

March 5, 2010

Santa Barbara, Calif. - The UC Santa Barbara women's tennis team will take on rival Cal Poly today in a Big West matchup in San Luis Obispo. The Gauchos (4-7, 1-0) will need to bring their `A' game if they hope to remain undefeated in conference play and knock out the 71st ranked Mustangs (7-2, 3-1).

Looking to continue their strong play of late will be sophomore Jordan Dockendorf, junior Tova Hausman, and senior Bryanna Ojeda.

Dockendorf, a transfer from UCLA, has won five of her last six dual matches, including three straight. She leads the team in dual match victories with seven, and has been one of the most consistent players this season. In doubles play, she has teamed with Natalia Lozano to win three of the last four matches at the No. 1 spot.

Hausman has been impressive recently, especially on the doubles front where she has not dropped a match since February 14th, teaming with Sofia Novak for most of that stretch. She will be looking for her third consecutive singles victory when the Gauchos face the Mustangs March 5th.

Ojeda is still undefeated in dual match action with her record of 5-0 at the No. 6 position. She is now 12-2 overall on the season, leading the team in singles victories. Ojeda and doubles partner Asagi Onaga also own the team lead in total doubles victories with ten.

After Friday's road match against Cal Poly, the Gauchos will return home to face Big West foe Pacific on Saturday, March 6th, at 11:00 a.m.
