SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Charlotte Scatliffe, a three-time All-Big West doubles player for UCSB, has been named an assistant coach for the Gauchos' program, head coach Pete Kirkwood announced Thursday.

"It is fantastic to have Charlotte back in the program," Kirkwood said. "Not only was she a great player for us but she was a team leader. I think her leadership qualities will make her a huge asset for us and I am very excited."

Scatliffe played for UCSB from 2005-08. She was a First Team All-Big West selection in doubles competition in 2006 and 2008 and a second team honoree in 2007. As a singles player, she recorded more than 40 victories and in doubles, the San Bernardino, Calif., native won 56 times.

"I am so pleased to be part of the Gaucho family again," Scatliffe said. "Taking a year off really made me miss Pete and the players. I wanted to be part of the team again and this is a great opportunity."

Gauchos Give
With the arrival of Mark Massari as Athletics Director in October, UCSB Athletics launched the Gauchos Give community outreach initiative for all 450 athletes and 20 sports. Gaucho athletes give back to their community through free clinics, helping families during the holidays, providing financial and emotional support during tragedies, and touching the lives of youth groups.
