Began her first season with UCSB by winning the javelin event at the Gaucho Round-Up with a throw of 130'09.50" (39.87m) which made the second best mark in Gaucho history...Ran 24.94 in the 200m dash to take fifth place at the UCSD Triton Invitational and moving up to seventh place on the UCSB all-time list...Finished 10th in the heptathlon at the Big West Championship with a score of 4308.

High School
Competed in the South Coast League of the CIF-Southern Section...Was All-League all four of her seasons, and All-Orange County from 2007-2009...Holds her high school's records in the 100m (12.18) and 200m (25.14), and was a member of record-setting relay squads in the 4x100m, 4x400m, 4x200m, and sprint medley...Also a member of her school's shuttle hurdle relay team that set the best national time at the Arcadia Invitational...Three-year honor roll student.

Esslinger is majoring in political science with a minor in global peace and security...Enjoys arts and crafts...Lists "Across the Universe" as her favorite movie.
