Nwaba broke her own UCSB record twice in the heptathlon in 2010
with a score of 5212 to place seventh at the Azusa Multi-Events and
then again at the Big West Championships scoring 5552 to win the
event...Named the Golden 1 Credit Union/UCSBgauchos.com Gaucho of
the Week after winning the Big West Championships in the
Heptathlon...She set a new personal best in the high jump at the
University of Washington Invitational Pentathlon event by clearing
5'10.5" (1.79m) and tying for third on the Gaucho all-time
list...Won the 400m hurdles with a seasonal best time of 61.97 at
the Big West Challenge Cup...Finished 12th at the NCAA Championship
heptathlon event with a score of 5382 points and earning
All-American honors...Earned 5485 points in the heptathlon at the
U.S. Track and Field Championships for 12th place

NCAA Regional Qualifier
Nwaba set three UCSB record in 2009: in the heptathlon, 100m
hurdles and 400m hurdles...Her personal best in the heptathlon was
5039 set at the California Invitational Multis, her best in the
100m hurdles was 14.21 at the Cal Poly dual, and her best in the
400m hurdles was 60.93 at the Cal Poly dual...Finished third in the
heptathlon at the Big West Championships with a score of 5000...She
took second in the high jump at Conference, clearing 5'8.75"
(1.75m) to qualify for Regionals...At Regionals she placed 13th
with a clearance over 5'7" (1.70m)...Her other results from
Conference were sixth in the 100m hurdles in 14.47, eighth in the
400m hurdles in 67.51, a sixth-place finish as a member of the
4x100m squad and a third-place finish as a member of the 4x400m
squad.
2008
Nwaba was a Conference Qualifier in the 100m hurdles and 400m
hurdles in her freshman season...Competed at the Stanford
Invitational and took eighth place in the 400m hurdles, finishing
with a time of 62.79. Unfortunately, she picked up a stress
fracture at the meet and was unable to compete for the rest of the
season...Set lifetime bests earlier in the season at the dual meet
against UC Davis--15.01 in the 100m hurdles and 62.48 in the 400m
hurdles. In that 400m hurdles race she overtook a runner from UC
Davis on the home stretch, which she lists as her most memorable
athletic achievement so far...Currently sits seventh on UCSB's
all-time list in the 400m hurdles.
High School
Was champion of the the 300m hurdles at the 2007 LA City Section
finals, in her first year competing in that event...From 2003-2006,
she suffered from "the high jump curse", finishing in second place
at section finals each of those years. In 2007, her senior season,
she finally broke the curse and took the championship...Qualified
for the State Meet in 2006 and 2007...Was honored with the
Sportsmanship Award and the Ralph Lathem Award during the course of
her high school career...Four-year scholar athlete.
Personal
Nwaba is the oldest of six children...The daughter of Blessing and
Theodore Nwaba...She is Nigerian...Has had so many nicknames that
she's lost count...Enjoys photography, photo editing, and
shopping...Also enjoys singing and is a member of church gospel
choir...Favorite music is acid jazz and mariachi...Her idol is
Wilma Rudolph...Majoring in biology and hopes to become an
optometrist.
