at Randall Tyson Track Center, Fayetteville, Ark.
at 2:45 p.m. local time (12:45 p.m. Pacific Time)
Jane Doolittle will be competing in the high jump at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Doolittle is the first UCSB athlete to qualify for the Indoor Championships, in the program's second season competing indoors. She will be competing on Friday, March 12, at 2:45 p.m. local time (12:45 p.m. Pacific Time).
How She Got There
Doolittle cleared 5-11.5 (1.82m) in the high jump at the Husky Classic on Feb. 14, setting a new personal best and meeting the NCAA provisional qualifying standard. She took two attempts to clear that height and improve upon her personal best by four centimeters. She also performed well two weeks earlier at the UW Invitational, where she cleared 5-9.75 (1.77m) on her second attempt to finish second overall and first amongst collegiate athletes.
What Will It Take?
The leader of the descending order list is Elizabeth Patterson of Arizona, who has cleared 6'3.50" (1.92m). There are then three athletes who have cleared between 1.87 and 1.89m, and eight athletes who have cleared between 1.83 and 1.85m. Doolittle and five others are at 1.82m. The UCSB record in the high jump is 6'0.50" (1.84m), set by Tara Fairfield in 1990.
