UCSB Hosts Cal Poly on Saturday Night; Will Say Farewell to Seniors

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara women's volleyball team will bid adieu to three seniors prior to its match against rival Cal Poly on Saturday night in the Thunderdome. First serve is slated for 7:30 p.m.

The Gauchos, currently all alone in second place, will be playing their final home match of the season and it will be the last time that Chelsey Lowe, Lily Lopez and Stacey Schmidt will play in the Thunderdome.

Lowe, a libero from Yorba Linda, Calif., currently ranks in the school's top-10 in career digs and is fourth in school history in single-season digs because of her stellar senior season. She leads the Big West in digs per set and ranks among the top 25 in the nation in the category.

Lopez, a middle blocker from Yorba Linda, has been a four-year starter for the Gauchos and is having an exceptional senior campaign. She ranks among the Big West leaders in hitting percentage – both overall and in conference play. She is among the team leaders in kills and blocks per set as well.

Schmidt, a right side/middle blocker from Huntington Beach, Calif., is a two-time All-Big West First Team pick and an All-American. She is one of the Big West's best all-around players as she is among the tops in the conference in kills, hitting percentage, blocks and service aces.
