After their strong start, the Gauchos headed to the Open Spartan Invitational at San Jose State where they endured their first pair of losses on Saturday against No. 15 UC Davis, 12-8, and No. 5 San Jose State, 12-8. As the tournament progressed, UC Santa Barbara picked up another win in an exhibition against Fraser Valley, 15-10, and then suffered a tough loss against No. 2 Cal, 11-7.
Going For the Goalie
UC Santa Barbara's goalkeeper Ruth Milne was named Big West Player of the Week this week. Milne broke the school record for career saves in the first week of her junior season; she now has 607 career saves. Across last week's five games, she had double-digit saves in three.
