• This Week in Water Polo
The No. 15 ranked UC Santa Barbara women's water polo opens its 2013 home schedule this weekend. The first of their seven games begin Friday when the Gauchos take on Azusa Pacific University at 9 am at Campus Pool. The team will remain at Campus Pool for the remainder of their games as they host the UCSB Winter Invite. The UCSB Winter Invite consists of 17 teams including Azusa Pacific, No. 18 Cal Baptist, No. 5 Arizona State, Concordia, No. 8 Loyola Marymount, No. 1 Stanford, Santa Clara, No. 19 UC San Diego, Sonoma State, No. 3 UCLA, No. 17 Cal State Northridge, No. 6 UC Irvine, Pomona-Pitzer, Cal State Bakersfield, Pacific and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

• Last Time Out
Last weekend the Gauchos began their season with two consecutive wins: Friday against Cal State Bakersfield, 13-10, and on Saturday against Cal State San Bernardino, 20-3 

• For The Record
The Gauchos head into this weekend's games with a 2-0 overall record. For the second week straight, the Gauchos are ranked at No. 15 in the Collegiate Water Polo Association Poll. 

• Follow the Leaders
Senior Rachel Nelson and freshman Samantha Murphy lead the team with five goals each and will certainly add to those numbers this weekend. Nelson kicked-off the season with four goals against Cal State Bakersfield and posted another goal against Cal State San Bernardino. Murphy started her college career with three goals against Cal State Bakersfield and added another two goals to the Gauchos' victory against Cal State San Bernardino. 

• What's Coming Next
Following this long weekend of games, the Gauchos will have a short break before they travel to Redlands, Calif. to play against Redlands, then head down to San Diego, Calif. to participate in the UC San Diego Triton Invitational on February 9-10.
