Eight Gauchos Earn ACWPC All-Academic Honors

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Eight UC Santa Barbara women's water polo players have earned 2017 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches All-Academic Awards, the organization announced last week.

The ACWPC gives three levels of honors including Outstanding (4.0 to 3.71 grade point average), Superior (3.70 to 3.41 grade point average) and Excellent (3.40 to 3.20 grade point average).

Freshman goalkeeper Kelsey Fennell recognized among those listed as Outstanding. Sophomore defender Annie Mortimer, freshman utility Sarah Snyder and freshman attacker Shannon Moran were recognized for their Superior achievement. Senior goalkeeper Devon Gasparini, senior utility Taylor Shore, senior utility Miranda Schrader and freshman utility Abbey Grosse were all listed as Excellent.

"We train for excellence both in the pool and classroom," said UCSB head coach Serela Kay. "The drive and determination to succeed in both arenas has really shown through the accomplishments of our All-Academic student athletes."
